WESTERN TOGOLAND LIBERATION MOVEMENT FULLY EMBRACES CONCEPTS OF THE PLC.
New national executives were elected at the Western Togoland Liberation Movement (WTLM) meeting of executives held at Akatsi on Saturday, 23rd March, 2019. Mr. Benson Dennis Seyram emerged the new Chairman of the movement at the meeting attended by 30 executives from 9 districts across Western Togoland.
At the meeting Mr. Benson was also appointed to represent the Western Togoland Liberation Movement (WTLM) at the Central Coordinating Committee of the Peoples Liberation Council of Western Togoland where coordinators of all networks and various organs meet to deliberate on their collective activities to advance the evolution of Western Togoland.
New members were also appointed into Council of Elders to join the National network of Western Togoland Council of Elders being organized by the Peoples Liberation Council (PLC) of Western Togoland.
In a WhatsApp message to executives of the WTLM, read on his behalf by Mr. Benson, the Secretary-General of the Peoples Liberation Council (Mr. Divine Ocquaye Odonkor) said, “because the PLC is encouraging networking, every identifiable network within Western Togoland shall have a representative in the Central Coordinating Committee. The networks shall also include political networks like the various fighting fronts, social networks like the Western Togoland Liberation Giraffe (sports and cultural societies) and PLC Association of Women in Development as well as professional leagues like Western Togoland Structural Engineers Association”.
“Please let them also note that the PLC considers all as Western Togolanders without any discrimination” the S.G. emphasized.
At the same meeting, minute’s silent prayer was held in for the fallen heroes of the land.
Other matters arising at the meeting included:
(1) Attempts by Ghana to instigate people around the Western boundaries of Western Togoland to reject independence.
(2) The conviction of Ghana’s vested interest in exploitation oil in the Keta and Anloga area.
A committee was proposed to meet the chiefs of the said area and create awareness of the imminent independence state of Western Togoland for which reason the decision to exploit the mineral resources must be reserved for the appropriate authorities representing the Peoples of Western Togoland.
Other committees such as civic education and information has been formed to be responsible for public education on the restoration of Western Togoland as a sovereign state.
It has also been resolved to establish a State Farm and the food processing company from the Southern zone (Volta Region), Middle belt (Oti Region) and the Northern zone (which includes the Northern Regions) of Western Togoland respectively.
A land at Akatsi has has been proposed and volunteers have also shown their interest to initiate the project at Akatsi very soon.
In an open phone conversation with the participants the Secretary-General of the Peoples Liberation Council of Western Togoland congratulated the WTLM for the move, which he said was in line with the PLC concept of “making use of the amount of liberty we have to secure the necessary freedom we deserve”. He also cautioned them to disregard all attempts to form a government without a constitution based on the Free and Prior Informed Consent of the people.
