The Western Togoland issue as had over the years been handled by the government of the republic of Ghana with the rest of the international community looking on as though the concerns of the people of Western Togoland were illegitimate and must be swept under the carpet can best be likened to the ‘proverbial vampire’ in Bob Nestor Marley’s classic song ”
The Babylon System” which portion says ” the Babylon System is the Vampire for the nation”.
As any one familiar with mythical stories and movies will be aware of the destructive and blood sucking activities of vampires on their victims, leaving on their trail destruction, chaos and anarchy, It is incumbent on all stakeholders in this Western Togoland problem to stop this “Babylon System” where the people of Western Togoland have become victims of a political system that has suppressed them for decades with the occupying force becoming like a vampire. It is time for Ghana to do the needful by ensuring that the people of Western Togoland are allowed to put political structures in place and to elect their representatives, form their own government which will then enter into negotiations with the republic of Ghana towards the fruition of the UNION between the two nations which was the “Manifest Aspiration” of the people of Western Togoland before and after the infamous PLESBICITE of 1956. Let us avoid any chaotic scenes and learn to “Tell the Children the Truth” and Posterity will be our judge. Let us again remember that ” The Voice of the People is the Voice of God”
