LEST WE FORGET: YAA NAA ABUDLAI BILA (III) AND THE PEOPLE OF DAGBON PARTICIPATED IN THE PLEBISCITE.

The above video shot sometime just before the 1956 Plebiscite, shows the jubilant participation of YAA NAA ABDULAI BILA III and his people the DAGBONS (Western Togoland Dagombas) in the collective decision making process in the lead to the infamous plebiscite of 9th May, 1956. An avid watcher of the video could decipher that the then DAGBON King and his people having been taken through the pros and cons of the Plebiscite,

were duly informed and knew exactly what decision to take as regards their choice of the questions posed for the Plebiscite vote.
Indeed one would notice that the colonial master chose to explain the processes involved in the Plebiscite to the people of DAGBON on the back of a Baobab tree as though there was no other means to do so.
All said and done, the people of DAGBON who knew what they wanted voted massively to unite their territory which is part of Western Togoland with Ghana as the outcome of the Plebiscite showed that they really knew what they wanted and actually voted for the UNION…

One would also notice that the visiting mission was the guest of Kwame Nkrumah’s favourite
Colonial government but we do not want to dwell on open secrets.

So let us take note of how protocols were duly observed in the process that was soon going to lead two countries in a loving union.

You will come to realise why the PLC does not want to overturn the decision of the people but rather calls for making straight the crooked places in the coexistence of Ghana and Western Togoland.

Yes that was the choice of our forebears and it is our strong conviction that the UNION must necessarily be implemented for a peaceful coexistence of the two sovereign nations.
