OTI REGION IS A BONAFIDE TERRITORY OF WESTERN TOGOLAND

As much as the PLC’s
statement on the government of Ghana’s announcement of the discovery of Iron Ore in the Oti region in commercial quantities has been met with mixed reactions from a cross section of the people of Ghana with some calling for negotiations between the republic of Ghana and Western Togoland, we at the PLC will welcome any negotiations that wil bring the Western Togoland problem to a close making the two nations stay together in peace for accelerated development but it must be emphasized that whoever calls for
negotiations in this matter must note carefully that it is only a constitutionally elected government of Western Togoland that has the mandate to appoint a competent authority to negotiate on behalf of the people of Western Togoland. Negotiations with some hungry or greedy chiefs and individuals of Ghana’s choice would be detrimental to the free will of the people of Western Togoland and and an exercise in futility and even criminal.
Citizens must not allow any repetition of what happened in the former times when some chiefs and powerful individuals could sell their subjects into slavery or colonialism.

Those who go lobbying for foreign loans must also note that it is a crime to mortgage one’s country and its citizens for foreign exchange. The PLC wishes to reiterate our promise to the government of the republic of Ghana that we are a peace loving people who are only calling on government of Ghana to take the necessary democratic and constitutional steps to implement the will of the people of Western Togoland which is a UN backed establishment of the Union which was the actual results from the infamous plebiscite of May 9, 1956.
